Have you ever been confused and wondered exactly how to
help your child prepare for a test? Starting this year, we have posted the study
plans to help your child succeed here on our website. Every subject has a
specific plan listed that will help you know how to best help your child study
for a test. These plans will help you guide your child in making best use of
his/her time in preparation.
5-8 English Study Plan
- The
student is given the format of the test questions.
- Study
the notes and examples from class. These should be in their notebook.
-
Rework workbook pages.
5-8 Math Study Plan
-
Complete the practice test that is given a day or two before the test.
- Ask a
parent to check it. (Answers are posted on my schoolnotes.com website.)
- Bring
in completed test with parent signature for 3 extra points.
- Extra
practice is available in the back of the textbook.
5-8 Reading Study Plan
-
If the
class is reading a selection from the textbook, students would need:
their textbook, notebook, and any resource sheets given for the selection.
-
If the
class is reading a novel, students will need: their notebooks and any
resource sheets should also be used in preparing for the test.
The notebook
and/or resource sheets will contain any vocabulary the student is responsible
for understanding. The notebook will also contain answers to comprehension
questions discussed in the classroom.
5-8 Religion Study Plan
- All
test material is highlighted in the text.
- Go
over this several times before the test.
**Do not
reread the chapter to prepare for the test.
5 Science Study Plans
- Go
over vocabulary words. Making flashcards is a good idea.
- Go
over any drawings or terms that are in their notebook.
- Read
over any small paragraphs by the pictures in the chapter.
- Go
over the workbook pages – use the textbook to help when doing these for
homework.
- Go
over the study guide in the notebook – This comes the night before the test.
**Do not
reread the chapter to prepare for the test.
Every
student needs a science notebook.
- They
need to take their notebook home every night and read over the information
we covered that day.
- If
they don’t understand something from the day, come ask me the next morning
and I will help.
- Read
over vocabulary words every night, but don’t do them all in one night. Split
the words and go over them throughout the chapter, they are a big part of
the test.
- When
studying for a test, they should use the study guide that I give them.
- Look
at the key ideas at the end of the chapter (by the vocabulary words).
-
Sometimes there is a diagram, but I will let them know that ahead of time.
**Do not
reread the chapter to prepare for the test.
5-6 Social Studies Study Plan
-
Study the
“Reviewing Facts and Ideas” section after each lesson.
-
Study the
Chapter Review pages. We do the review in class and the student’s write the
answers in their notebooks.
-
Practice
a paragraph answer for the two essay questions I give out before the test.
Your child writes the essay questions in their Social Studies notebook.
-
Study all
the vocabulary we write in our notebook.
-
Use all
the days possible to study for the test.
7-8 Social Studies Study Plan
-
Listen to
lectures in class.
-
Read each
section with your group.
-
Fill in
the Guided Reading Sheets.
-
Check
Guided Reading with the class so you have the correct answers to study
later.
-
Carefully
fill in the Section Quiz using your book.
-
Copy the
essay questions into your notebook.
-
Study for
several nights for the test.
-
Use the
Chapter packet and your notebook to study for the test.
Use the website www.glencoe.com for extra chapter review options.
**Do not
reread the chapter to prepare for the test.
